About
korents is a public record of what people currently believe — dated, with the source that convinced them — and of when they changed their minds.
The idea
Most places you can publish an opinion treat it as an event: you said a thing, it scrolled past, and all that survives is a timestamp nobody revisits. That makes a changed mind invisible at best and embarrassing at worst, because the only trace of it is an old post that now looks wrong.
Here a belief is a standing value rather than an event. It has a date and a source, and it is expected to move. The interesting artifact is not the claim; it is the difference between the claim and the last one.
How it works
- A korent is one claim, shared by everyone who holds it — one page per claim, not one post per person. If four people believe the same thing, that is one korent with four holders, each with their own note and their own source. Why it is spelled with a K.
- A source — a link to whatever actually convinced you. If nothing did, that is worth noticing.
- Revisions add versions, they never overwrite. Changing your position writes a new one and keeps the old, so “I believed this a year ago, I no longer do, and here is what changed” is a real object on the site rather than a deleted post.
Changing your mind is the point
When you stop holding a position, the site says you no longer hold it, and your profile counts it as a change of mind. That framing is deliberate. A record of revision under evidence is the most useful thing a person can publish about their own thinking, and a site that made it feel like losing would collect nothing but people digging in.
Archive profiles
Some profiles are marked archive. They are compiled from things people said publicly elsewhere; those people did not sign up and have not endorsed this site. Every archive position carries a verbatim quote, a link to where it was said, and the date it was said. Nothing is paraphrased into first person, and a confidence number appears only where the person stated that number themselves. If an archive profile is of you and you want it corrected or removed, email hello@korents.com and we will act on it without asking you to prove anything.
What it is not
It is not a timeline, and there is no feed to keep up with. Nothing is ranked by engagement, there are no ads, and there is nothing to refresh. If the site works, you visit it when you have actually changed your mind about something, which is not often.
